Learn moreWhy do San Diego homeowners choose Slab Pro San Diego?
San Diego concrete has specific challenges. Coastal salt air rusts shallow rebar in Carlsbad and Coronado. Clay soils in Escondido and El Cajon swell and shrink hard enough to crack thin slabs. Mountain freeze-thaw in Julian eats acrylic sealers. We know the county, the soils, the codes, and the materials that hold up.
- Base prep we do not skip. Compacted Class II road base in 4-inch lifts, plate-compacted, every time. Most slab failures start here.
- Rebar, not just wire. #4 bar on 18-inch centers minimum. We over-spec for clay soils and heavy vehicle use, not under-spec to win bids.
- Flat-rate quotes, no day-of changes. You hear the price before we mobilize. Permits, inspections, and disposal are in the bid, not surprise add-ons.
- Saw-cut joints within 24 hours. Cracks land in the joints, not across your driveway. The work that makes a slab look right ten years in.

What homeowners across the county say
Tore out our 1970s driveway and poured a new one with proper rebar and base prep. Crew showed up when they said, finished on schedule, and the saw-cut joints are dead straight. No surprise charges, no day-of pricing changes.
Wanted a stamped patio off our slider and got three bids. Slab Pro was not the cheapest but they were the only contractor who brought sample boards and could explain why their integral color choice would hold up in coastal sun. Two years in, color is still rich and the surface is clean.
Built a 750 square foot ADU in our backyard. Slab Pro coordinated with our designer, scheduled the soil report, pulled permits, and poured the foundation. Inspectors signed off first time on rebar and final. Made the foundation phase the smoothest part of the build.
Driveway was settling at the foundation joint. Other contractors quoted $9,000 to tear it out. Slab Pro diagnosed it as a drainage issue, did a polyurethane lift plus a French drain at the joint, and fixed it for under $3,000. Driveway has been flat for over a year.
Our pool deck was hot enough to burn feet in summer and chipping at the coping. Slab Pro recoated it with cool-deck and stamped the border. Surface stays comfortable in July sun and looks better than the original. They added the non-slip aggregate to the sealer without us having to ask.
Needed a 5 foot retaining wall on our hillside lot. Slab Pro coordinated with the engineer, filed the permit, and built the wall with proper drainage. Two heavy rains since and the wall is dry — they actually installed the gravel backfill, drain pipe, and weep holes that other bids glossed over.

All FAQsWhat areas in San Diego County do you service?
We service every city in San Diego County — coastal communities like Carlsbad, Encinitas, and Coronado, inland cities like Escondido, Poway, and San Marcos, East County (El Cajon, Santee, Alpine), South County (Chula Vista, Bonita), and the backcountry communities. If you are in the county, we pour there.
How fast can you start a new concrete project?
Most new pours start within two to four weeks of estimate. Repair and crack work is usually scheduled the same week. Foundation projects with engineer drawings and city permits take longer because of inspection timing — we plan the schedule around the inspection lead time.
How much does a new concrete driveway cost?
A standard tear-out and replace driveway with broom finish runs $8 to $15 per square foot. A typical 600 square foot two-car driveway lands at $5,000 to $9,000. Stamped concrete adds 30 to 60 percent. RV and boat-grade reinforced sections add another 20 to 30 percent.
Do you handle permits and inspections?
Yes. Foundations, retaining walls over 4 feet, and most ADU work need permits. We file with the city or county, schedule inspections, and pour after the rebar inspection passes. Permits are part of the bid, not a surprise add-on.
How long until I can use the new concrete?
Walk-on after 24 hours. Cars and light vehicles after 7 days. RVs, dumpsters, and full-strength loads after 28 days. Driving on fresh concrete is the fastest way to crack a slab and we will not let you do it on our pours.
